[The battle has been fought, done, over with. He's just happy he made it back in one piece and didn't have to fortune of having someone drag along his severed head back with him. That seriously would have put a damper on his mood...and, his life. But who he is he even complaining. Right now, though, seems like a good enough time to actually indulge in possibly one of his favorite past times; eating some sweets.
Which is totally what he's doing right now, patting around on his person and pulling out what seems to be some candy. And look who else is seeming to pass by...]
Hey, Stumbles. [He calls out to the girl, holding up some candy.] You want some? Once in a lifetime offer.
[On the note of fortune, Sumia's flower ones are probably to be thanked for motivating her to get through that battle -- at least, in her mind, of course. There were definitely some close calls, so she's just happy to have made it out all right and alive. And also happy to hear a certain familiar comrade call out to her, whom she then turns to and approaches.]
Hello, Gaius. [With candy, of course. But is that ever surprising...] Oh! I would love some! If that's really all right, anyway.
[It'd be a nice way to celebrate getting through the fight, but she knows how much he likes his sweets...!]
[Great, he actually has someone on board with this little candy sharing idea of his. Then again, he feels like sharing candy with anybody considering how well that last fight of theirs went. That, and Sumia did save his hide.]
Alright then, pick your poison. [So he says, holding up a lollipop in one hand, and...what looks like a custard pie in the other?!]
If none of these catch your fancy, I'm sure the other confections in my bag would catch them instead. [Stay away from his hidden pockets, though.]
[Yes, of course! What heathen would deny sweet-sharing with Gaius?! But no uh. Sumia takes a very serious look at her two choices. Lollipops are always good, but... there's so much more in pie! And that slice looks kind of pretty too...
Tough life decisions.]
If it's okay, I think I'll go with the pie! It looks delicious. [Where did he even get it...]
[So the pie it is, then. Without any hesitance on his part, he's already moving over to hand the pie, also giving her a good pat on the head.]
That just means my stash of pops is growing ever so steadily. Never knew you were much of a pie person, though. Did your mom make pies for you growing up?
[She seems like the person to share the affection of sweets with a person like him...]
[And she'll happily accept that pie with a "thank you," smiling as she does so and Gaius gives her a pat. In order to answer his question though, she doesn't take a bite out of it or anything just yet.]
Well yes, actually! My mother used to always bake me them, and they would always bring my spirits up. I actually like making them myself as well, so I'd be more than happy to do so for you sometime, if you wanted.
[Wait. Did she just say she can make pies herself. Where has this woman been all of his life. At first, there's a blank look on his face as the part of her mother just goes by his head and he hears the part of her making pies, the sides of his mouth fly up.]
Aw, you'd be willing to do something like that for me? Guess I'd better thank your mother for actually raising you up in sweet talk, Stumbles. [A pause.] How good are you at making them...?
[The eternal question. His eyes are peering at you, Sumia.]
[Yes. She can make pies herself. And cakes too but you know-- Considering her wide grin in response to Gaius' comments, she's pretty proud of it as well. And so she nods firmly.]
I like eating them myself, so I'd say I'm pretty good at it. You can try it for yourself though, but if it takes awful, just let me know and I'll try again. I'll make sure it's the best pie you've ever had!
[Now she's just determined to make him a bunch of delicious pies...]
[Honestly, this is all just him trying to coax Sumia into pie making, but now that they're actually on the subject...]
Say, what other sort of sweets can you make? You know, in case the army somehow gets malnutritioned and end up keeling over because of low blood sugar...? I'm just asking this out of the kindness of my heart.
[The kindness of his heart, right...! Though she does think he's being sincere right now, so...]
I don't really make them as often, but I think I can make decent cakes and other basic pastries as well. It usually takes a few tries, but I can do it! [clumsiness level 9001 over here and whatnot. But she's got this!]
Don't you think those kinds of foods wouldn't be a good choice for a malnutritioned army though? You can get sugar from healthier ones, after all. [Just food for thought!! Pun unintended.]
[How does Sumia even believe the things he says in the first place...]
Great, we can try and make them sometime soon. I know my way around a few pastries myself, though I can't call myself a sweet mage. [Gaius you probably have the recipes shoved somewhere in one of your secret pockets.]
What, the sweets? I think sugar of all kinds are pretty bad, but imagine the sort of boosts it can give the army, healthy or unhealthy. Try and name one that wouldn't benefit us in the first place, Stumbles.
Great! Just let me know whenever you want to. I didn't know you could bake yourself though, Gaius.
[Though she supposes it's to be expected, or should be, anyway... How else would he be able to indulge himself in sweets without others around?! That would be tragic.]
But... Putting it that way, I suppose you're right. Even if they're unhealthy kinds of sweets, at the very least they could help to boost morale. [Assuming that's what he means, anyway.] Some pies can be made healthier than others too, so... at least there's that as well. [SO MAYBE HE HAS A POINT...]
